whole eggs are a perfect foodI was on a weekend trip with some friends recently and one of my friends was cooking breakfast for the whole group. I went over to see what he was cooking and saw he was getting ready to make a big batch of eggs.

Well, to my shock and horror, I noticed that he was cracking the eggs open and screening the egg whites into a bowl and throwing out the egg yolks. I asked him why the heck he was throwing out the egg yolks, and he replied something like this...

"because I thought the egg yolks were terrible for you...that's where all the nasty fat and cholesterol is".

And I replied, "you mean that's where all of the nutrition is!"

This is a perfect example of how confused most people are about nutrition. In a world full of misinformation about nutrition, somehow most people now mistakenly think that the egg yolk is the worst part of the egg, when in fact, theYOLK IS THE HEALTHIEST PART OF THE EGG!

By throwing out the yolk and only eating egg whites, you're essentially throwing out the most nutrient dense, antioxidant-rich, vitamin and mineral loaded portion of the egg. The yolks contain so many B-vitamins, trace minerals, vitamin A, folate, choline, lutein, and other powerful nutrients... it's not even worth trying to list them all.

In fact, the egg whites are almost devoid of nutrition compared to the yolks.

Even the protein in egg whites isn't as powerful without the yolks to balance out the amino acid profile and make the protein more bio-available. Not to even mention that the egg yolks from free range chickens are loaded with healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

Yolks contain more than 90% of the calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, thiamin, B6, folate, and B12, and panthothenic acid of the egg. In addition, the yolks contain ALL of the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K in the egg, as well as ALL of the essential fatty acids (EFAs).

And now the common objection I get all the time when I say that the yolks are the most nutritious part of the egg...

"But I heard that whole eggs will skyrocket my cholesterol through the roof"

No, this is FALSE!

First of all, when you eat a food that contains a high amount of dietary cholesterol such as eggs, your body down-regulates it's internal production of cholesterol to balance things out.

On the other hand, if you don't eat enough cholesterol, your body simply produces more since cholesterol has dozens of important vital functions in the body.

healthy whole eggsAnd here's where it gets even more interesting...

There have been plenty of studies lately that indicate that eating whole eggs actually raises yourgood HDL cholesterol to a higher degree than LDL cholesterol, thereby improving your overall cholesterol ratio and blood chemistry.

And 3rd... high cholesterol is NOT a disease!  Heart disease is a disease...but high cholesterol is NOT.  Cholesterol is actually a VERY important substance in your body and has vitally important functions... it is DEAD WRONG to try to "lower your cholesterol" just because of pharmaceutical companies propaganda that everyone on the planet should be on statin drugs.

If you're interested in this topic of cholesterol specifically, I have another article listed at the bottom of this page about why trying to attack cholesterol is a mistake, and what the REAL deadly risk factors actually are.

In addition, the yolks contain the antioxidant lutein as well as other antioxidants which can help protect you from inflammation within your body (the REAL culprit in heart disease, not dietary cholesterol!), giving yet another reason why the yolks are actually GOOD for you, and not detrimental.

To help bring even more proof that whole eggs are better for you than egg whites, I recently read a University of Connecticut study that showed that a group of men in the study that ate 3 eggs per day for 12 weeks while on a reduced carb, higher fat diet increased their HDL good cholesterol by 20%, while their LDL bad cholesterol stayed the same during the study.  However, the group that ate egg substitutes (egg whites) saw no change in either and did not see the improvement in good cholesterol (remember that higher HDL levels are associated with lower risk of heart disease) that the whole egg eaters did.

So I hope we've established that whole eggs are not some evil food that will wreck your body... instead whole eggs are FAR superior to egg whites.

But what about the extra calories in the yolks?

This is actually a non-issue and here's why... even though egg yolks contain more calories than just eating the egg whites, the yolks have such a high micro-nutrient density in those calories, that it increases your overall nutrient density per calorie you consume.  Essentially, what this does is help to regulate your appetite for the remainder of the day, so you end up eating less calories overall.  In addition, the healthy fats in the egg yolks help to maintain a good level of fat-burning hormones in your body.

Overall, this means that the extra fats (healthy fats) and calories from the yolk are so nutrient-dense that they actually HELP you to burn off body fat!

Also, your normal supermarket eggs coming from mass factory farming just don't compare nutritionally with organic free range eggs from healthy chickens that are allowed to roam freely and eat a more natural diet.  Your typical cheap grocery store eggs will have lower nutrient levels and a higher omega-6 level and lower omega-3 level.  On the other hand, the cage-free organic eggs from healthier chickens allowed to eat more natural feed and roam freely will have much higher vitamin and mineral levels and a more balanced healthier omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acid ratio.

I recently compared eggs I bought at the grocery store with a batch of eggs I got at a farm stand where the chickens were free roaming and healthy.

Most people don't realize that there's a major difference because they've never bought real eggs from healthy chickens... The eggs from the grocery store had pale yellow yolks and thin weak shells. On the other hand, the healthier free range eggs from the local farm had strong thick shells and deep orange colored yolks indicating much higher nutrition levels and carotenoids... and just a healthier egg in general.

This is due to the fact that a free-roaming hen allowed to roam on plenty of land will eat a variety of greens, insects, worms, etc transferring MUCH higher levels of nutrients to the eggs compared to an unhealthy hen that is trapped inside a dark factory farm hen house in horrible conditions and fed nothing but piles of corn and soy.  It's a DRASTIC difference in the nutrition that you get from the egg.

So next time a health or fitness professional tells you that egg whites are superior (because of their "fat-phobic" mentality towards dietary fats), you can quietly ignore their advice knowing that you now understand the REAL deal about egg yolks.

And can we all please STOP with this sillyness about eating an omelete with 4-5 egg whites and only 1 egg yolk... If you want real taste and real health benefits, we'd all be better off eating ALL of our eggs with the yolks.

After all, do you REALLY think that our ancestors thousands of years ago threw out the yolks and only ate the egg whites?  NOT A CHANCE!  They intuitively knew that all of the nutrition was found in the yolks.  But our modern society has been brainwashed with misinformation about fats and cholesterol.

Another interesting study about eggs...

I read a study recently that compared groups of people that ate egg breakfasts vs groups of people that ate cereal or bagel-based breakfasts.  The results of the study showed that the egg eaters lost or maintained a healthier bodyweight, while the cereal/bagel eaters gained weight.

It was hypothesized that the egg eaters actually ate less calories during the remainder of the day because their appetite was more satisfied compared to the cereal/bagel eaters who would have been more prone to wild blood sugar swings and food cravings.

Oh, one last thing I almost forgot... I personally eat 4 whole eggs almost every day with breakfast, and I maintain single-digit bodyfat most of the year.

Enjoy your eggs and get a leaner body!

KUALA LUMPUR – What does a jealous woman do when she thinks her boyfriend is getting too close to a female colleague?

In the case of one woman, she tried to smear the other woman's reputation by posting supposed sexual services offered by her rival on several social networking sites.

SMS from stranger
The victim only came to know of her predicament when she received an SMS from an unknown man requesting sexual services.

It was then that the 36-year-old found out that her profile and pictures had been posted on several websites, including Facebook,ahmoi.com and pinksofa.com.

“I was shocked to see my profile stating my interest in people’s boyfriends and husbands," said the woman, who wished to be identified only as Sydney.

“On the page, I was labelled as a ‘loose and steamy woman’ who provides sex,” said the sales executive at a press conference at the MCA Public Services and Complaints Department.

No resolution despite confrontation
“I called up the web hosting provider and demanded that they immediately erase my account. I suspected it was her (girlfriend of the colleague) but when I confronted her by phone she declined to say anything.”

The ordeal continued late last month when she discovered her profile on three more networking sites, including a lesbian website, describing her as a “sex provider”.

According to The Star report, she said she had received at least 200 SMSes and 300 calls from strangers since February.

Once colleagues
Sydney said she was unable to change her mobile phone line because it belonged to her company.

She believed the her colleague’s girlfriend was causing the ordeal. She also said the alleged offender used to work in the same firm and had previously accused her of ruining her relationship with her boyfriend.

She has lodged two police reports over the matter.

hahaha..1Malaysia or 2malaysia

Here are some funny bloggers' comments.
We must laugh to keep our sanity in this
crazy country hahaha!!!

I like the last sentence.....very funny.

Blogger A: Let me try to understand what
Nazri means: If you are an East Malaysian
Christian residing in East Malaysia , you
can use the word 'Allah'. But if you are a
West Malaysian Christian residing in West
Malaysia , you cannot use the word 'Allah'.

If you are an East Malaysian Christian

working in West Malaysia , you cannot use
the word 'Allah'. However, if you are a West
Malaysian Christian working in East Malaysi,
it is alright to use the word 'Allah'.

But if you are either East Malaysian or West

taken off from East Malaysia to West Malaysia,
you cannot use the word 'Allah'. Similarly if
you are either East Malaysian or West Malaysian
Christian on a plane that has just taken off
from West Malaysia towards East Malaysian,
you can now start using the word 'Allah'.

Christians all over Malaysia were told to pray

KUALA LUMPUR: A surprisingly high number of Malaysians are not sexually satisfied, a survey by pharmaceutical company Pfizer has revealed.

Two out of three Malaysian men and three out of four women are not satisfied with their sex lives, the Asia-Pacific Sexual Health and Overall Wellness survey stated. Malaysians are ranked sixth among 13 countries but, if it’s any consolation, Singaporeans fared worse. They are in eighth spot.

India topped the list with 70% of the respondents saying they were satisfied with their sex lives while Japan reported the lowest sexual satisfaction rate at 10%. “The Malaysian figure is higher than the overall Asia Pacific results where 57% of men and 64% of women reported being not very satisfied with sex,” said Dr Rosie King, who led the study in the Asia Pacific region from May to July 2008.

“The survey links the level of erection hardness to sexual satisfaction for men.” said Dr King during a roundtable discussion at a hotel here yesterday.

banana The level of erection hardness is measured in a scale of one to four using the Erection Hardness Score (EHS) developed by the European Association of Urology.

Level one is like tofu where the male organ is large but not hard, level two is similar to a peeled banana where it’s not hard enough for penetration, level three is like an unpeeled banana where it’s hard enough for penetration but not completely, and level four is similar to a cucumber where it’s completely hard and fully rigid,” explained Dr King.

NCI_06 The men were required to evaluate themselves using the EHS during the survey and 40% of Malaysian men reported that they experienced erection below grade four.

Compared to their EHS grade four counterparts, these men have sex less often, are less sexually satisfied, and may suffer from lack of self confidence, or worse, depression.

“We found that greater sexual satisfaction is strongly associated with greater satisfaction with life overall. Generally, men and women who are highly satisfied with their sex life have a more positive outlook on their relationships and life.

In Malaysia, 102 men and 100 women were selected nationwide based onage, marital status, education level, and income to participate in the survey.

4 Frogs & 1 Big Fat Toad

I received this one from an email....it could be true or just plain stupid hearsays....as the big man said, there was no money involved in the deal of the decade.

According to sources the PAY off is financed by some rich Chinese businessmen in the silver state. Probably, the person-who-had-never-met-any-mongolian-gal had approached these rich chinese towkays to do the needful for him.

The beneficiaries of the haram state government:-
1) Katak O and
2) Katak J - (he is greedier than the rest). These two got RM1 - RM2 million each.
3) SHee Frog – She got the most RM10 million.
4) Double-leap Katak - probably got only a few millions.
5) The Big Fat Toad - He also received a few million cash more than the rest of the FROGS but not more than RM4.0 million.

Further the Big Fat Toad through his private vehicle companies will receive some major contracts from the paymaster who is nothing to do with Mongolian government.

This is hilarious !!

This piece of news appeared in a local daily today.

A Malay guy was driving through a kampung in Sibu, when a car in front of him blocked his way. He got out from his car and discovered that the car in front was parked and stationary, and the driver was nowhere to be seen. He then asked a passerby, who was also a Malay guy, whether he knew the driver of the parked car.

The passerby told him that the parked car's owner was having a meal at a nearby stall and pointed out the person to him. The Malay driver then approached the driver of the parked car, who was a Chinese, and told him in English that his car was blocking his way.

Upon hearing this, the Malay passerby came up to the Malay driver and scolded him for speaking English to the Chinese guy. The verbal exchange between the two finally escalated into a fight.

While the two kampung guys were trading blows, the Chinese guy quickly and quietly left the scene, got into his car and drove away.

I just wonder how the two settle their grievances.

Life's full of humorous situations, and this one somewhat tickles me pink and had me in stitches all morning. Thanks to my Angel for this wonderful piece of stress reliever.

I used to ride bikes during schooldays and the earlier part of my working life. Times really flies, and now I've been driving cars for so long (some 20 years or more, it seems), I wonder whether I can still handle motorbikes. My love affair with the 2-wheeler has not died, though. Recently I have been doing some window shopping and homework on bikes, and this scooter really grabs my attention. I'm now itching, contemplating and pondering, whether to get this handsome 2-wheel cruiser (my original target was the Yamaha Ego priced around RM5200.00). My search on the Internet turns out mostly positive recommendation for it. Another review also gives it good scores. It's a re-badged Joyride RV and it represents good value in current market prices of bikes.

imageIt is quoted at RM6498.00 on the Modenas website. Buying it here locally means parting with about RM7000.00 of cold hard cash. But, what the heck, take a look at this cool machine.

Why isn't it worth buying for RM7000.00, compared to the RM11,830.00 price per unit it costs the police, as reported in the New Straits Times, dated 2008/08/26. (Below)

JOHOR BARU: Police in the state will be using scooters to patrol neighbourhoods and increase their presence in public places.

The 48 Modenas Elegan 150cc scooters, which were handed over to the force at the state police headquarters yesterday, will be attached to police stations here as well as in Batu Pahat, Muar, Kulaijaya, Kluang and Kota Tinggi.

State police chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the scooters, costing RM11,830 each, would help increase police presence in neighbourhoods as policemen could patrol with greater ease using the machines.

"As Johor police now have better staff strength with the recent addition of 644 policemen, we can carry out more patrols in our crime prevention efforts."

"We will further increase our manpower soon, along with the allocation of RM1.2 million due to the development of the Iskandar Malaysia development corridor.

"This is the first time our policemen are using scooters to patrol the streets and we hope it will make an impact."

Mokhtar said Johor police had also received 246 new patrol cars and 52 motorcycles this year.

The motorcycles are 250cc Kawasaki scramblers and 150cc Kawasaki Ninja.

Besides the fleet of motorcycles, the state police will also be getting two helicopters to be stationed at the contingent soon.
"Previously, a helicopter was flown here once a fortnight. Now, we are getting our own helicopters which can be used for aerial surveillance," he said.

Mokhtar said the state police would launch its second phase community policing programme on Oct 1.

In the second phase, five police stations and 10 beat bases will be set up in neighbourhoods that recorded high crime rates.
